A triumphant display of grandeur and fine craftsmanship, this monumental birdcage was once home to the pet bird of a Qing-dynasty aristocrat. Dated to the late 19th century, the cage was carefully assembled into the shape of a towering three-tiered pagoda from thin strips of bamboo. A sinuous dragon appears in various carved elements throughout the cage, a symbol of power and good fortune. A fantastic collector's item, we love this birdcage as an unusual sculptural object or a new home for a feathered friend.
