This charming set of brushes and jars was once used by a well-to-do lady to store her cosmetics and maintain an elegant updo hairstyle. Also known as a toilet service or grooming set, vanity sets were a popular wedding gift and were kept on the woman's bedroom dressing table. This particular set is designed in the Art Deco style and dates to the 1940s/50s, possibly an example of the Ann Barton Dresser Kits distributed by Sears in the mid-century.

The set includes eight individual pieces, including one brush, three frosted glass cosmetics jars, an adjustable hand mirror, a nail buffer, a nail file, and a pair of tweezers. The tops are decorated with opaque green enamels in a gentle gradient from light to dark. A delightful keepsake from a bygone era, the eight-piece set makes for fitting decor in a modern powder room or closet.
