"Fua" Peace Marker

This discreet wooden sign from the late 19th century imbues its surroundings with a sense of calm. Carved with a single large character, the sign asks you to "keep your heart quiet in this space." Once displayed in an ancestral hall or place of worship, the marker took the place of Buddhist iconography with a subtle call for peace and contemplation.
