This early 20th-century glazed vessel stands tall with an impressive and balanced cylindrical form. As indicated by its interior glaze and constrained neck that calls for a lid, this jar was once used for storing tea, sugar or other dry goods in a provincial Qing-dynasty kitchen. The jar boasts a thick, brown glaze speckled with pitted wear and firing imperfections.

The original lid has been lost.
