Basket making is an ancient and humble craft, but in the hands of a skilled weaver a simple willow basket can become a truly beautiful work of art. This bent handle basket is closely woven of fine willow strips for an evenly textured surface and near-watertight seal. Waxed cloth covers the edges and a broad bamboo handle arches over the basket, decorated by painted characters. Although modern hardware has been used to secure the handle, the late 19th-century basket has a richly aged texture that only time can achieve. We love it for firewood, toys, wastepaper or anything you want stored beautifully.

What They're Saying

Elizabeth Krueger | Elizabeth Krueger Design

“PAGODA RED was extremely supportive in helping to pull accessory options together for the Lake Forest Showhouse. After providing them with details and our vision on how we were looking to finish our space, Laurene helped curate options that made it easy for us to edit and finalize. It's also no surprise that the unique pieces we used in our showhouse space were some of the first to sell.”
