This early 20th-century oval hand mirror is set in a fine hardwood frame decorated with mother-of-pearl inlay of bamboo culms and plum blossom branches. The handle is decorated with a coin for wealth and a Shou symbol for longevity. Each piece of shell is unique in color and texture with a glimmering, iridescent finish, making it a one-of-a-kind decorative material.

From the collection of Frances and Gary Comer.
