"Rome II" by Ren Hui

This exquisite woodcut entitled "Rome II" was made by internationally renowned Chinese contemporary artist Ren Hui. Using a style that he calls "uncomplicated and honest, he carefully depicts the view down a narrow street in Rome, capturing the shape of the landscape in his signature pointillist style. The scene emerges from the minute notches in the painted wood, white on black, as if it were a constellation of stars.
