This early 20th century ginger jar features rounded sides and high shoulders that curve in towards a narrow mouth. Painted with expressive brushwork, the jar is festooned with pink peony blossoms, emblems of springtime, love, and affection. Two black-and-white magpies sit on a nearby branch and hand-painted characters decorate the jar's opposite side. Presented as a pair, magpies offer blessings of good fortune and martial happiness - making this round jar the perfect gift for a newly wed couple.
